Wyoming Online Gambling Laws
Wyoming has some of the fastest-changing laws and stances on online gambling. Their recent expansion allowing online sports betting sites to operate in the state has brought in tons of revenue and has allowed some of the biggest sportsbook sites like FanDuel and DraftKings to start accepting players from Equality State.
However, online casinos and playing casino games for real money remain illegal. In fact, there are still some harsh punishments for doing so. According to Stat. § 6-7-102. Section 6-7-102, anyone found guilty of partaking in illegal online gambling or in-person gambling can face up to 6 months in prison and is subject to a $750 fine!
It’s a good idea to check with the Wyoming Gaming Commission if you’re unsure of the online gambling site you’re betting on. They can tell you if it’s legal or not, so you can avoid being charged with a misdemeanor.
How Does Wyoming Regulate Gambling?
Wyoming’s tribal casinos operate under the tribe itself (the Shoshone and Arapaho tribes), which is in charge of licensing the casinos and regulating them. If you’re interested in becoming a vendor for the tribe or opening a gambling establishment, you’ll need to contact the tribe directly for help.
The Wyoming Gaming Commission is the next big regulator. They oversee the new sports betting rules and regulations since sports betting was just legalized in 2021. In addition, they also oversee pari-mutuel horse betting both online and in-person. There are a handful of off-track betting sites and several sites where players can place wagers.
The Wyoming Gaming Commission was, interestingly enough, previously known as the Wyoming Pari-Mutuel Commission. Today, however, they oversee everything from online casino laws and changes to responsible gambling.
